More Christmas Cards!

These next few cards are again Christmas theme. This first one just doesn’t look nearly as good in the picture! It is a quilled snowflake using the Jane Jenkins’s holographic papers, which in my opinion are some of the most gorgeous papers for snowflakes! I also used a holographic ribbon to go behind the embossed layer of card. The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug’s 2010 Winter Wonderland set. I also used holographic tape behind the Happy Christmas layer. It turned out so nice, I wish the picture did it justice but it doesn’t. Hopefully you get the idea of how it looked.

The next one is a stamped card. I embossed a nativity stamp in silver, and then chalked it. Then I quilled the star using gilded paper to go above it. The embossing is done with a Sizzix Texture plate.

The third one is quilled holly on a spellbinders scalloped layer circle, with and embossed holly background. I taught this one at my card making group last fall.

Christmas Cards Made in 2010

These are some new designs I made this last year. Christmas cards are some of my favourites to make. This first one is a type of origami fold Christmas tree (I learned in a card making and techniques group that I belong to) made from mulberry papers, and embellished with stickles. The quilled star is gilded paper, and I like how the Cuttlebug snowflakes folder is laid out for the star to sit in the center of that particular snowflake.

The second & third ones are my quilled holly & scroll trees. These are fun to make, and endless in possibilities. They are a triangle collar, filled with scrolls, and quilled holly leaves, with red rhinestones for the berries. The stars are gilded paper.

One more thing, there is a quilling paper giveaway at
http://allthingspaper-annmartin.blogspot.com/ , and fabulous article /interview with Diane Boden new co-owner of JJ Quilling Designs.  Wonderful pictures too! Check it out!

Baby Cards

These next couple of cards are baby cards, both with a simple quilled duck, but different layouts. The first is a gate fold design that I made for my nephews wife (new great nephew born in December 2010!), using Cuttlebug Divine Swirls, and one of the border folders,(buttons), and spell binder ovals. The second is the Cuttlebug Baby folder and Spellbinder scalloped circle and oval that I made for an order.

It's been a long time!

After a much needed break from posting online, I am giving it a go again.  I just got caught up in life, and  needed some time away.   I spent last fall getting ready for a few Christmas sales, which went fairly well, but as I say , they can always be better too!  I sold lots of quilled ornaments, and bookmarks, a long with friendship bags, but not too many cards.  This was a shock, as I sell quite a few privately, so thought I would sell lots at my sales... Oh well, on the bright side, I have a nice stock made :).

Someone Special card: For the flower, I used peach colored strips wrapped around a dowel, and then shaped like a grape roll to give added dimension with a pearl to finish it off in the center.  The leaves and scrolls are light green, and then I added little quilled pegs in the corners.  This is a simple faster design that can be used for many different occasions.

For the birthday card I used light yellow and aqua colored strips.  The fringed center is both colors, made from 1/8” strips rolled together.  The leaves are a moss green color, both quilled and alternate side looped.
